What I do for a loving
I love life in all its facets. I wish I was able to protect it. Yet, if it does not lie in my power to change or save the world, at least, I can continue to love it no matter what.
I have...
- held virgils for the victims of hunting.
- stood up and walked the streets for my values on my own as well as parttaking in demonstrations.
- petitioned for synchronizing the practices of the fur industry with the German Protection of Animals Act.
- subsequently launched an information campaign about the atrocities of the fur industry named "Fur was alive". Information is so dearly needed since greed, anthropocentric values and, above all, ignorance fuel suffering of the animals being exploited for their furs.
- sown compassion towards other-than-human beings as a founder and leader of a "pupils for animals"-group at Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Bensheim.
- founded and managed the chapter of "foodsharing" in Singen.
- attempted to attract votes for what I consider a just policy as vice-president of a small ecological party.
- and I organized and contributed to numerous street-team events furthering animal and environmental rights causes.
Self-care demands that I focus my energy. I have chosen to invest it in paving compassion coexistence of humans and corvids.
- Federal Working Group for Corvid Protection, NABU Germany
I have founded and lead as a speaker a coalition of experts in science, politics, authorities, environmentalism, as well as interested citizens. We seek to be ambassadors for corvids - crows, rooks, magpies, ravens, ... - whose ecological and existence value is often misjudged and certainly underestimated.
We counsel on creative and effectful ways of dealing with human-crow conflicts and further acceptance, thus protecting species and individuals.
- Project "Krähenpfad"
It all started as a hands-on proposal for saving a rookery in my hown town by installing information panels on rooks, the "Ascheberger Krähenpfad", by showing how the nesting site can be a resource for attracting (rather than repelling) tourists.
Soon, this idea spread wings and was adapted for showcasing other nesting sites of rooks throughout Germany. I also counselled a team developing information panels on rooks for a garden exhibition in the federal State of Brandenburg, Germany in 2013. In 2022, an interactive flyer was published to raise awareness on the beauty of rooks in the city of Friedrichstadt.
Contributing to human-wildlife coexistence also became the focus of my research and today forms an integral part of my vocation.
She who loves, cares
A plant-based eater, cyclist and upcyclist, light-footed pedestrian, I aspire to model a sustainable lifestlye.
I am human tough, so I fail over and over in aspiring to my ideals. Also, different values must be weighed against each other in daily life.
Yet, there is no alternative to trying.
I refuel in communion with the human and other-than-human beings I love.
